Brick Match – Guildford
brick matching for a period property extension
All Brick and Stone were approached to help assist with a sensitive brick match for a large two storey extension to a period property in Guildford.
Once a site visit had been conducted, it was considered essential to respect the building’s original character as it featured herringbone panels to the rear of the house which were in need of repair work. These were identified as a key element of the overall brief to provide our brick matching service in order to find a suitable product.
As the property was of significant age, the original supplied facing bricks were no longer available, meaning our expertise was required to address this challenge. Inspecting the colours on the original existing building closely, All Brick and Stone were able to create a bespoke blend of bricks ideally suited for a match. Many sample panels were created for approval in order to find the right brick. During the matching process, alongside the main brickwork, All Brick and Stone were able to also produce a suitable blend for the herringbone panels, which also needed careful consideration. Sourcing and specifying the right colour and texture with meticulous attention meant preserving the building’s heritage. Working in partnership with our trusted brick suppliers, the overall appearance remained sympathetic to the original character of the property.
On completion of the project, our team successfully delivered a match which our client expressed their delight with the result – we have since continued to work in partnership on other schemes.
